Jacksonville, Alabama -- The final show of WLJS news anchor Ed Moore III will take place 90 minutes later Friday due to possible scheduling conflicts with the live broadcast of a Jacksonville, Alabama athletic event.
In a statement released Thursday through Moore's representative, the athletic event, which is a men's basketball game between Jacksonville State University and University of Arkansas at Little Rock, could rollover into the scheduled time for Moore's broadcast.
"The men's basketball tournament to take place Friday between Jacksonville State University and University of Arkansas at Little Rock could rollover into the final broadcast because of the time it is scheduled to air. As most people know, producers can never predict the happenings of live athletic events. This event was a tournament game in which the scheduling was not yet decided. After speaking with our Director of Programming at WLJS, the decision has been made to delay Friday's farewell broadcast for 90 minutes. The broadcast will now air at 8:30 P.M. CST and 9:30 P.M. Eastern Time. The broadcast will still take place for one hour.”
Northeast Alabama listeners may listen to Moore's farewell on 91.9 FM. The program will stream live worldwide online at www.wljsnews.weebly.com.
Moore will leave WLJS January 1 to lead a new civil and human rights group based on the campus of Jacksonville State University.
He has worked at the station since 2011.
